What are color harmonies?

Color harmonies are combinations of colors based on their positions on the color wheel. Colors are arranged in a circle based on their hue angle (0-360°). Harmonious combinations create visually pleasing palettes because they have mathematical relationships on the wheel. This tool generates five types of color schemes by rotating the hue of your base color.

Color scheme types

Complementary — two colors opposite on the wheel (180° apart). High contrast, bold and vibrant. Analogous — three colors adjacent on the wheel (30° apart). Harmonious and comfortable. Triadic — three colors equally spaced (120° apart). Balanced and colorful. Split-complementary — base color plus two colors adjacent to its complement (150° and 210°). High contrast but less tension. Tetradic — four colors in two complementary pairs (90° apart). Rich and varied.
