Why minify CSS?

Minification removes whitespace, comments, and unnecessary characters from CSS to reduce file size. Typical savings are 20–40% before gzip and even more after. Smaller CSS means faster page load — especially on mobile. The tool also shortens 6-digit hex colors to 3 digits when possible (#ffaa00 → #fa0).

Minifier options

  • Remove comments — strips /* ... */ blocks.
  • Shorten hex colors — converts #ffaa00 to #fa0 when possible.
  • Strip trailing semicolons — removes the last ; in each block.
