How does the online notepad work?

Your notes are stored in your browser's localStorage — a per-domain, per-browser key-value store that survives tab closes, browser restarts, and computer reboots. Notes are saved automatically as you type (debounced) so you don't have to remember to hit save. Storage capacity is typically 5-10 MB, more than enough for personal notes.

Common uses

  • Quick notes — jot down thoughts without opening Word or Google Docs.
  • Clipboard staging — temporarily hold text between apps.
  • Distraction-free writing — minimal UI, no ads, no signup.
  • Privacy-first — sensitive notes never leave your device.

Privacy

Notes are stored only in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. Clearing your browser data will remove your notes.
